Brimstone

Directed by Martin Koolhoven / Music by Tom Holkenborg

"'Passacaglia and Fugue in C Minor' has always been my favorite organ piece by Bach. I have been looking for an opportunity to write music for a film inspired by this beautiful work, which I found in collaborating with Martin Koolhoven. He was immediately attracted to the idea and my resulting composition became a theme for the reverend, in which you can hear the influence of this brilliant Bach piece. His music will continue inspiring myself and many other composers for years to come!"

Directed and written byMartin Koolhoven, starringDakota Fanning,Kit HaringtonandGuy Pearce,Brimstoneis a dramatic epic of survival and a tale of powerful womanhood and resistance against the unforgiving cruelty of a hell on earth.Liz(Dakota Fanning) is a mute young woman who lives together with her husband and two children. She is a midwife who communicates through sign language. When the new reverend (Guy Pearce) climbs the pulpit in their church, Liz freezes. She immediately knows she and her family are in grave danger.
